Christ is BIG in Rio de Janeiro...literally! This member of the new Seven Wonders of the World stands 120 feet tall and weighs in at over 600 tonnes. You get to see this amazing concrete and soapstone statue by travelling 2300 feet up the side of Corcovado mountain, through the rainforest, by cog wheel train. At the top, you can either take the stairs to the base or take the elevator and escalator(???...all the modern conveniences)
GREAT views of Rio from up here...Copacabana, Ipanema, Sugarloaf mountain, a fantastic panorama of the city! There's even a chapel if you'd like to light a candle or say a couple of Praise the Lords.
