TRAVEL ALERT: Our original quest to visit all of the Seven Wonders of the World has been completed!
We've racked up over 250,000 kilometers in the past ten years, not only in pursuit of our holy grail (a visit to all of the New Seven Wonders of the World) but to unforgettable places that we truly wanted to see and experience!
This website was formed to track our progress.
It started in 2007 when we travelled to Cancun on what was a nice relaxing beach vacation and had the opportunity to visit the Mayan pyramid at Chichen Itza.
Impressive? You bet! And then an idea sprang to life...Why not visit ALL of the Seven Wonders of the World?
Our trip to South America in 2008 took us to the statue of Christ the Redeemer, perched on the top of Corcovado Mountain, overlooking the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and to the Inca city of Machu Picchu, which laid undiscovered for 400 years, high in the Andean mountains of Peru.
In 2009, a trip to Italy brought us to the 2000 year old Coliseum, the largest amphitheatre ever to be built by the ancient Roman empire.
Our 2010 adventure allowed us to walk upon the Great Wall of China in August of 2010, a World Wonder of over 6,000 kilometers in length and 1000 years in the making.
2011...the ultimate testament to love, the Taj Mahal in Agra, India!
Finally in 2014...the ancient rose city of Petra, built by the Nabataeans over 2000 years ago in the deserts of Jordan!
But why stop there...
Our quest to see the Seven Wonders hasn't become the be all and end all of our travel plans because it's a BIG world and there will always be somewhere else unique and exciting to visit.
We've continued to make trips to awe inspiring sites around the world! (2012 was a year off but we've been making up for lost time.) We have completed adventures to Vietnam and Cambodia (Angkor Wat, the world's largest temple complex)) in March 2013 and a beach/jungle trip to Belize (Ambergris caye) and Guatemala (Tikal) in December 2013.
In 2015, we had the pleasure to visit one of the most beautiful islands in the world, Palawan, in the Philippines and then on to the island of Bali in Indonesia.
December 2016 was a lazy visit to Jamaica (ya, mon) and then, most recently, the cherry blossom season in Japan, spring of 2017.
We'll close out 2017, after 10 years of unique travels, with an off-the beaten-track adventure in Nicaragua.
